Are you like me and struggle with keyword research? I can find lots of them. Most of what I find are useless though.
When I used Google’s keyword tool I trusted the results 100%. A big company like that wouldn’t give false results, would they? Turns out they do and they don’t.
The results you see are not always correct, far from it. But it will have been spot on at some time. I stumbled across the solution to this particular conundrum.
I targeted a keyword that ’said’ it had about 5000 competing web pages. I was pretty confident I could get a result from that. I started banging articles out left right and centre. Hundreds in fact.
It didn’t take long to notice there were now over 9000 competing sites. I could hardly believe that. Had there been some mistake? A bit more investigating turned up my own articles on loads of these new competing sites.
The point I’m trying to get across is that had I looked at the keyword with 9000 competitors, I would have left it alone. A lot of these sites were ranking with my article so I had a lot of competition but most of it was my own articles. A win win situation if you ask me.
Anyway, I decided to give a keyword research service a try as I couldn’t count on getting lucky every time. My hope was to get some ‘killer’ keywords delivered by email every day. I had figured that the daily cost against how much work I would save is value for my money.
Travis Sago was offering a service which I decided to try. Travis is the original bum marketer. Bum marketing only costs my time so it’s my kind of marketing.
If I can get a keyword or two in my in box each day then that saves me valuable time. At least a two hour saving. An hour or two of my time is highly valuable to me when all I have is time. If I contrast a couple hours of my time against the cost each day it has to be value.
I get a lot of emails from gurus banging on about outsourcing. I see this as an outsourcing project. I’m outsourcing my keyword research to a professional service.
